What Is Loving Day?
A unique and special day called Loving Day celebrates the love that has no regard for race. On this day in 1967, the US Supreme Court ruled that laws prohibiting interracial marriage (blessed union between individuals of distinct ethnicities) were unfair and forbidden, and today is the milestone of that mandate.
Loving v. Virginia was the United States Supreme Court case that served as the impetus for this day. Interracial couple Mildred and Peter Loving, who were arrested in Virginia in 1958 for violating the state’s ban on interracial marriage, filed it.
It is a glorious tribute to—and a jubilant festivity for interracial couples.
But don’t you think celebrating love should not be just bounded for the day? Although it’s a commemoration of history and the Lovings let’s cherish and treasure our love for our loved ones.
